LOGLINE:
The cast and crew of a tropical reality show end up in a deadly battle for survival when angered island natives hunt them down.
SYNOPSIS:
Jay Rose is a reality show producer desperate for a hit. As a last resort, he hires a shoestring crew out of pocket and flies them to a remote island along with a group of young contestants. Nick, mid-twenties, is a natural leader with a shady past. Lauren, a sweet young Hispanic girl who loves adventure can't help flirting with him. Adam, a competitive black man whose only goal is winning can't keep his eyes off the sensual and scheming Layla.
Somehow Jay manages to pull this motley cast and crew together to shoot some beautiful footage. The cast and crew party at a moonlit revelry attended to by some of the locals. Nick and Lauren finally find seclusion and fall into each other's arms.
In the morning, Sam is a no-show on set. Jay pushes on with the shoot, taking the camera himself. Jay and the remainder of his crew, Manu and Erin, film from the back of a small boat. The cast engages in a diving challenge. Adam dives deep and is shocked by the deteriorating body of Sam, floating near barnacled wreckage. The cast and crew examine the beached body of Sam. The locals become delirious as one of them removes a shark tooth lodged in the corpse and raises it above his head. The other natives chant loudly seeing the tooth.
The cast demands to return home. Jay resists, determined to see production completed. He agrees to contact his pilot to get them to the main island. Noticing that Layla and Manu are not with the group, Nick and Adam look for them. They are surprised by a shadowy attacker who disappears into the jungle. They find blood splattered on the walls and a piece of Layla's torn dress is enough to convince them the locals have taken her.
Layla is bound, gagged and dragged in the middle of the night. She is thrown into a ditch and lands on a limp body. The body shudders to life, his eyes are sewn shut and some of his fingers severed. She screams!
Nick and Adam regroup with Lauren and Erin. Adam threatens to sue Jay and bury him financially. Nick and Lauren decide to try and find another way off the island; cell phone reception or a nearby boat. Jay manages to get a message to his pilot then sabotages the radio.
Nick and Erin stumble upon preparations for a bonfire. Layla is strapped on two giant whale bones over the bonfire. Adam approaches from another direction and Jay surprises him. They struggle and Adam overpowers Jay, beating him viciously. They both slip in the mud and the tip of the gun pierces Adam's arm as he falls. Jay grabs the gun and rips it from Adam's arm sadistically. Lauren screams as Jay shoots Adam in the chest.
Nick struggles to untie Layla but it is too late. Jay sucker punches Nick and they fight in front of the locals. Jay wounds Nick and prepares for the killing blow. Erin shoots Jay in the back with a flare, stopping him. Jay writhes on the ground while Erin helps Nick and Lauren escape down the beach.
Jay recovers from the flare, attacks and misses, killing a local instead. He chases after Nick and the girls, reloading the pistol with a secret stash of bullets. He fires again, killing Lauren. Nick and Erin keep running while a plane circles overhead.
The pilot sees Jay on the beach but turns back when he notices the raging bonfires. Nick and Erin find a local canoe on the beach and while Jay is distracted, they slip into the water. Jay fires his gun at them, missing and wasting his bullets. Jay turns away from the ocean and finds himself surrounded by the natives. He tries to mimic their chant, but they grab him and drag him to the bonfire!
Nick and Erin drift in the calm South Pacific ocean. The fiery glow from the island can be seen on the horizon.
